2026 biennial renewal period: Oct 1 – Dec 31, 2026

FDA food facility registration renewal for 2026, filed for you.

Every FDA food facility registration must be renewed during the 2026 biennial renewal period — October 1 through December 31, 2026. A registration that is not renewed by December 31, 2026 is cancelled, and the facility must register again before it can ship food to the United States. Send us the facility; we prepare and submit the renewal through FURLS for $149 flat.

What's included

Biennial renewal

FDA food facility registrations must be renewed every two years, between October 1 and December 31 of each even-numbered year. We verify the facility's information on file, update anything that has changed, and submit the renewal before the deadline — so the registration is not cancelled. We also verify that your facility's DUNS number is valid and matches your registration, and we will sort it out with you if it does not.

DUNS number — checked with every renewal

Under 21 CFR 1.232, the DUNS number is the Unique Facility Identifier the FDA accepts for facility registration and renewal. Verifying yours — or obtaining one if your facility does not have one — is included in the $149 renewal fee at no extra charge.

A DUNS number is a free 9-digit identifier for your facility, issued by Dun & Bradstreet. The FDA requires one — it calls it a Unique Facility Identifier — for every food facility registration and renewal, and it must match your facility's legal name and address exactly. If you do not have one, or you are not sure, we handle it as part of your registration at no extra charge. You can also apply for one yourself, free, at dnb.com.

Does a foreign facility need a U.S. Agent?

Yes. Every foreign food facility registered with the FDA must designate a U.S. Agent, and the agent must confirm the designation in the FDA's system before the registration is complete. A designation that was never confirmed is a common reason a registration is not in good standing — we check for it on every filing.

From the second year onward, we remain the facility's designated U.S. Agent for $149 per year: the designation stays confirmed in FURLS, FDA communications sent to the agent are received and passed on to the facility, and we flag the biennial renewal window before it opens. The fee is confirmed with you each year — there is no auto-renewal charge.

If your facility is outside the United States and you renew with us, we can serve as your facility's U.S. Agent on the terms described above.

Turnaround and the fine print

We begin work when we receive your completed intake form and payment. We normally submit a filing within 2 business days of receiving complete and accurate information. FDA processing times are outside our control and are not guaranteed.

The FDA charges nothing for facility registration — registration itself is free, and facility owners may file directly with the FDA through FURLS at no charge. Our fees pay for the preparation, filing, and follow-through described here.

FDA Filing Service is a private, independent filing-preparation service. We are not the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the FDA or any government agency.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

When is the biennial renewal deadline?

FDA food facility registrations must be renewed between October 1 and December 31 of every even-numbered year. The current renewal period runs October 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026. A registration that is not renewed by December 31 is cancelled, and the facility must register again before it can ship food to the United States.

What happens if a registration is not renewed on time?

The FDA cancels registrations that are not renewed by December 31 of the renewal year. Food shipped by a facility with a cancelled registration can be refused admission at the U.S. port of entry. The facility can register again, but shipments should not move until the new registration is in place.

What is a DUNS number? Do I need one?

A DUNS number is a free 9-digit identifier for your facility, issued by Dun & Bradstreet. The FDA requires one — it calls it a Unique Facility Identifier — for every food facility registration and renewal, and it must match your facility's legal name and address exactly. If you do not have one, or you are not sure, we handle it as part of your registration at no extra charge. You can also apply for one yourself, free, at dnb.com.

A designation that was never confirmed is a common reason a registration is not in good standing — we check for it on every filing.

Renew before the window closes

The 2026 biennial renewal period ends December 31, 2026. If your facility ships food to the United States, its registration has to be renewed before then — send the facility details and we handle the filing.
